SUKKUR: Sindh Government Spokesperson and Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh called on Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Bilawal House on Wednesday and apprised him about the development projects of Sukkur and recent rainwater drainage, emphasizing on the effective completion of flood water drainage. within a few hours, despite 22 hours of continuous heavy rain.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that we have done a lot of work in Sindh which was not effectively presented to the public. The Sindh government has done an exemplary job in education, health and infrastructure. We have planted millions of mangrove trees in coastal areas, which is also appreciated globally.
He directed that these achievements should be showcased through the media and social media platforms, allowing people in the provinces to recognize the efforts and commitments of the People’s Party.
Bilawal emphasized that the Sindh government remains intensely focused on its development agenda and ensuring productive progress and growth. He directed Mayor Sukkur to maintain administrative vigilance and prioritize citizen safety through resource mobilization and proactive emergency preparedness during the expected rainfall from August 11.
Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh further briefed the PPP Chairman on the development projects of the city and highlighted the significant achievements.
He added that the 70-year-old drainage problem in Old Sukkur has been solved, marking a major breakthrough in the city’s infrastructure development. In addition, all waste management stations in the city have been upgraded to modern standards. He said that Sukkur has become a leading educational hub with the establishment of world-class universities that are transforming the educational landscape of the city.
Beautification of the city is also a priority with a focus on creating urban forests, green belts and tree planting initiatives, he concluded.
