A vacancy for a “rabbit” was announced in the forest. An unemployed and distressed bear also applied for it. By chance, no rabbit applied, so the bear was given the job, assuming he was a rabbit.
Serving on the position, one day the bear noticed that a rabbit was working for a bear in the forest and was getting the salary and benefits of a bear. The bear was very angry at this injustice that with his height and size, he was barely getting the salary and benefits of a rabbit, while a small rabbit was having fun pretending to be a bear in his place. The bear consulted his friends and acquaintances about this injustice. All his friends and well-wishers advised him to immediately go against this injustice and take legal action.
The bear immediately called on the forest director and lodged a complaint with him. When the director did not understand anything and did not get any response, he sent the complaint file to the forest administration. A committee comprising senior leopards were constituted by the administration to save his life. The committee dispatched a notice to the rabbit for personally appearance and present his defense and prove that he was a bear.
The rabbit appeared before the committee very next day and presented all his papers and degrees, proving that he was actually a bear.
The committee asked the bear, who had filed a false claim, whether he could prove that he was a rabbit? The bear was forced to present the papers he had prepared and prove that he was a rabbit.
The committee wrote in its decision that the truth is that the rabbit is a bear and the bear is actually a rabbit. Therefore, without any change, both parties will resume their respective jobs and continue to perform their respective duties. The bear immediately accepted the committee’s decision without any objection and returned home.
When the bear’s friends asked the reason for accepting the decision so cowardly without any hesitation, the bear said:
How could I say anything against this committee consisting of leopards and how could I not accept their decision because all the members of the committee were actually leopards, while they had formal degrees and papers to prove that they were leopards. (Czech story)
