ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Khan won the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson without a challenge on Thursday, taking the role for the second time in as many terms inside the party after his competitor panel withdrew.
The PTI affirmed in a statement issued late on Thursday that “Following the withdrawal phase of candidates/panels, only one candidate/panel remains.”
In a similar vein, Omar Ayub Khan was elected to the position of central general secretary of the party without opposition.
Additionally, no opponent appeared to contest the candidacies of Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Ali Amin Gandapur, and Haleem Adil Sheikh, who were chosen as the presidents of the PTI in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh, respectively. The PTI is going to hold an intra-party poll in Quetta for the presidency of Balochistan.
On March 3, however, the Federal Election Commissioner will formally declare the results of the polls, thereby concluding the electoral process, as per the announcement.
