Pakistan defeated Barbados in Davis Cup Group Two, with the Caribbean nation securing a 3-1 victory. On the second day, Pakistan lost both the doubles and the first reverse singles to seal the win for Barbados.
In the doubles, Pakistanis Aisam-ul-Haq and Aqeel Khan lost to the Barbadian pair of Darian King and Haydn Lewis. After a hard-fought battle, King and Lewis triumphed 7-6, 6-7, 6-2 to take the final set and clinch the match. In the first reverse singles, Pakistan’s Yousaf Khalil was overwhelmed by Darian King, who won in straight sets 6-3, 6-0, giving Barbados an unassailable lead.
After the loss, Pakistan will now head into the Group II play-offs where they will fight for a place in the competition. World Group II featured 12 ties. The 12 World Group I playoff losers and the 12 World Group II playoff winners will be placed against each other based on their ranking.
