DHAKA: Former Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed has been appointed Bangladesh’s new spin coach ahead of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.
The decision, officially announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s spin bowling department as it prepares for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States.
With a wealth of coaching experience under his belt, including stints with England, West Indies and Pakistan, Mushtaq is ready to bring invaluable experience to Bangladesh’s spin bowling unit.
Expressing his desire to join the Bangladesh team, Mushtaq said he wanted to share his vast knowledge with the players. He praised the team’s potential, describing them as “a great coach” and “one of the most dangerous teams” to show their potential to succeed.
Mushtaq’s illustrious playing career, which saw him take 185, 161 wickets in 52 Tests in 144 ODIs for Pakistan, including a key role in the 1992 World Cup victory, added credence to his coach’s credentials.
