LAHORE: Captain Shan Masood, head coach Jason Gillespie and the selection committee have started discussions about the Pakistan squad for the Test series against Bangladesh in August.
Babar Azam, the current white-ball batsman, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi will be ruled out for the Test match against Bangladesh, while Haris Rauf is also not expected to be in the squad.
The latter group included Saud Shakeel, Abdullah Shafique, Salman Ali Agha and former violinist and cricketer Sarfaraz Ahmed.
As for the fast bowling department, Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani, Mir Hamza, Khurram Shahzad and Aamir Jamal were selected.
Pakistan will host Bangladesh in August for a two-Test series, the first time the series has been hosted by Pakistan since 2019-2020. The series will be part of the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship.
The series will be Gillespie’s second stint as head coach of Pakistan’s Test team following his appointment in April and Masud’s appointment last year. Initially, he led the Australian team in losing the three-test series in Australia 3-0.
Masood currently represents and manages Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The team was eliminated from the ongoing T20 World Cup in the preliminary round, while Bangladesh qualified for the Super 8.
