DERA ISMAIL KHAN: At least four people were killed in a bomb blast near a hospital in South Waziristan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, Express News reported.
Sources said the blast occurred near the city hospital on Karikot Road in Wana, the capital of South Waziristan.
Initial information from the hospital management confirmed the death of four people in the explosion.
The explosive device was reportedly placed on a motorcycle and targeted the vehicle of Taliban commander Ainullah, who escaped unhurt, according to sources.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the motorcycle bombing and expressed grief over the loss of life. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Governor Kundi said in a statement: “Those who target innocent people are enemies of humanity.”
On Wednesday, an explosion triggered the collapse of a large part of the Jamshoro police station, leaving five police officers injured and a suspect arrested.
Police believe that the boiling temperature caused an explosion in hand grenades placed in the station’s maal khana [storeroom], which fell. However, an investigation has been launched to find out the actual cause of the blast.
Among the injured are ASI Muhammad Bux Dawach and Rasool Bux Narejo, Head Constable Abdul Lateef Panhwar, Constables Ghulam Muhammad and Irshad Ali.
Jamshed Sanjrani, the arrested suspect, was also injured in the blast. All were taken to Liaquat University Hospital in Hyderabad.
