At least 18 people were killed and 37 injured in two separate road accidents in Punjab and Sindh on Monday after an accident in which a bus overturned in Fateh Jang and a van collided with a trawler in Naushahro Feroz.
11 people, including six women and five men, died after a bus crashed and overturned on the M-14 highway near Fateh Jang.
Rescuers told the media that the number of injured in the accident stood at 22, adding that the victims were from Bahawalpur, Vehari, Sharaqpur and Islamabad, the rescuers added.
Paramedics further said that six people, including three women, were taken to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, while one injured person each was taken to Islamabad and District Headquarters Hospital.
Meanwhile, the highway police spokesman said that the bus, traveling from Bahawalpur to Islamabad, met with a fatal accident due to the negligence of the driver.
Inspector General of Highway Police Riffat Mukhtar has ordered an immediate inquiry into the bus accident.
