Pakistani veteran actress Asma Abbas has expressed frustration and anger at social media users for criticizing her son’s complexion.
A video clip from a private TV show featuring Asma Abbas has been making rounds on social media. In the program, the actress spoke about the hurtful comments her son received in response to a question from the host.
She shared, “People were extremely rude. My youngest son is very introverted. He is a singer and has appeared in a few dramas, but he prefers to keep to himself. He doesn’t like going out with us or letting us post his pictures.”
Asma added, “We run a clothing business together, and I managed to convince him with great difficulty to attend a show. He told me, ‘I’m nobody; why should I go anywhere with you all?’ He’s that kind of person.”
The actress revealed, “My son had organized a prayer for blessings, but his skin got tanned due to a trip to Thailand. I shared pictures of the event, and the kind of comments people made on social media were beyond words.”
She explained, “People insulted my son so much that it broke my heart and his. His friends were sending him clips of the comments, saying, ‘Look what’s being said.’ I felt so embarrassed in front of him. He told me, ‘Please, mother, don’t share my pictures or mention my name on social media.’”
Asma concluded by saying, “That’s when I decided I would never post his pictures again.”
