Lahore: LUMS is organizing the Asian Energy Transition Summit on 28-29 September to facilitate discussions on the transition to renewable energy sources. The event will be attended by leading energy experts, researchers, civil society activists, politicians and parliamentarians. The summit is organized by the LUMS Energy Institute (LEI) in collaboration with the Pakistan Renewable Energy Coalition (PREC). The aim of the event is to highlight the need for a coordinated effort across Asia to mobilize finance to transition to renewable energy sources, move away from fossil fuels and improve energy efficiency and savings. The key objectives of the summit are to review and analyze the progress made in the Asian energy transition and to align the Asian energy transition initiatives with the key goals set at COP28, in particular the tripling of renewable energy, the doubling of energy efficiency and the shift away from fossil fuels. in a decisive and definitive manner. The event is divided into several plenary sessions, panel discussions and group activities to ensure that its delegates can exchange ideas and information on a wide range of energy issues and topics. The proceedings include evidence-based presentations from various Asian countries. The summit will include notable sessions of the Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Co-Conference of Parliamentary Forum on Energy and Economy, Federal Minister of Energy, Executive Director of Private Energy and Infrastructure Council, among others. The two-day event is focused on providing real-time insights and solutions to explore a viable path to expand renewables and profit from the global energy transition.
