An increase of Rs. 2.60 per liter in petrol price is expected, as estimates for the price hike in petroleum products from November 16 have been sent to OGRA. The oil industry has shared initial workings with OGRA, proposing an increase of Rs. 2.60 per liter for petrol and Rs. 6 per liter for high-speed diesel. These estimates are based on current government taxes, with no exchange rate adjustment included. Currently, the levy on petrol and diesel is Rs. 60 per liter.
OGRA will submit the report to the government on November 15, after which the Ministry of Finance will issue the final notification upon the Prime Minister’s approval. The government has the authority to adjust prices and taxes, keeping its revenue targets in mind. The ex-refinery price of petrol has recorded an increase of Rs. 2.58, while high-speed diesel has risen by Rs. 6.20 per liter. Additionally, the premium per barrel on petrol and diesel has increased by one dollar.
Transportation charges per liter are currently Rs. 7.89 for petrol and Rs. 4.17 for diesel.
