Islamabad : Ambassador of Tajikistan, Amb. Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House.
The Prime Minister welcomed the ambassador and wished him a successful tenure in Pakistan. While fondly recalling his recent visit to Dushanbe earlier this month, the Prime Minister said he was touched by the warm welcome he received and appreciated the friendly and productive discussions with H.E. President Emomali Rahmon during the visit.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the Memorandum of Understanding/Agreements signed between the two sides during his visit and urged that timely implementation and follow-up would help further strengthen bilateral ties.
The Prime Minister renewed his invitation to President Rahmon to make an official visit to Pakistan as soon as possible, adding that Pakistan was looking forward to Tajikistan’s participation in the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad in October this year.
The Tajik Ambassador briefed the Prime Minister on a number of proposals aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, including education, agriculture and defence, as well as connectivity through land and air routes. The Prime Minister took note of the suggestions and instructed the relevant ministries to liaise with the Tajik ambassador for further negotiations. Regional connectivity projects including CASA-1000 were also discussed.
The Tajik Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for the reception, conveyed his President’s greetings to the Prime Minister and expressed his country’s desire to further strengthen its relations with Pakistan.
