Islamabad: The Ambassador of the Republic of France, Nicolas Gali, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and SAPM Tariq Fatemi.
The Ambassador presented a letter of congratulations from the Prime Minister of France, H.E. Jibril Attal spoke to the Prime Minister about his re-election. The Prime Minister thanked the French leader for his greetings. He said that Pakistan has friendly and warm relations with France and despite the difficult period of these relations a few years ago, the two countries are working together to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The Prime Minister recalled several meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, especially at the UNGA session in 2022, as well as the Paris Conference on the new climate change financing agreement in June 2023. The President’s warmth and support for Pakistan. He also appreciated the contribution of President Macron through his virtual participation in the Geneva Conference on a Sustainable Pakistan in January 2023.
The Prime Minister reiterated President Macron’s invitation for an official visit to Pakistan at the appropriate time.
He emphasized the need for both sides to work together to develop cooperation, especially trade and investment, and invited French companies to invest in Pakistan. He welcomed the French party’s initiative to visit Pakistan soon with top French company executives. The prime minister also said that economic stabilization is the government’s agenda.
The situation in Gaza was also discussed and the Prime Minister praised France’s peace efforts in the region.
The French Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for his reception and apprised him of the latest developments on the bilateral front. He said that a French delegation is expected to visit Pakistan to discuss bilateral cooperation. Apart from strengthening bilateral ties, he said France wants to work closely with Pakistan in multilateral forums, including the United Nations.
