Islamabad: H.E. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Jamal Beker Abdula, has announced the mobilization of another trade delegation of Pakistani businessmen to Ethiopia at the end of May this year to strengthen business, trade, and commerce. relationship between two countries.
Addressing the business community at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), the Ambassador recalled the first trade delegation mobilized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad in March last year.
“We had a great response to the first trade delegation, which we called the Hijra Tour of Ethiopia.
He said more than 75 businessmen participated in the first trade delegation to Ethiopia and had the opportunity to interact directly not only with high-ranking government officials but also with business people from key industries.
“I would like to invite every business person in Pakistan to be a part of our Hijrah journey and contribute to the Ethiopian Embassy’s efforts to establish strong trade relations and cooperation between the two countries,” he said.
The Ambassador also highlighted the tremendous trade and investment opportunities offered by Ethiopian households in various economic sectors such as agriculture and agro-industry, manufacturing, mining, ICT, and tourism.
He said Ethiopia produces cheap, clean, sustainable, and affordable energy and exports it to neighboring countries such as Kenya, Djibouti, Sudan, and others. Similarly, several incentives, including the single window procedure, have been introduced to facilitate foreign direct investment in Ethiopia.
On the other hand, he said that Pakistan has offered huge trade and investment opportunities to the Ethiopian business community, especially in manufacturing, agriculture, fertilizers, chemicals, medicine, surgical instruments, textiles, automobiles, and others.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of FPCCI, Atif Ikram Sheikh, praised the new socio-economic development in Ethiopia, especially under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
He said he fully supports the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad to mobilize the trade delegation planned for the end of May.
The FPCCI president said the delegation will engage with businessmen who are part of the federal trade body to explore and exploit opportunities in Ethiopia and Africa.
