JHELUM: Chairman Senate and leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that he has asked all the problems of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on various issues.
Speaking to reporters in Jhelum, Gilani said that the PPP will decide to join the federal ministry after consulting the parties now, adding that they are working to strengthen the government to control the economic situation.
The former chief minister’s remarks came as the PPP recently reiterated its views on the proposed budget and various political issues in Punjab.
Sources told Geo News last week that the PML-N accepted all the demands of the PPP after the parties entered the third round of committee talks held on Sunday.
PPP’s Raja Pervez Ashraf, Ali Haider Gillani, Nadeem Afzal Chan and Hasan Murtaza attended the meeting, while PML-N Punjab Assembly Speaker Ahmed Khan, Rana Sanaullah and Khawaja Saad Rafique attended the meeting.
In the meeting, the government agreed to select PPP for development funding and administrative posts in Punjab, sources said.
The PPP has demanded the appointment of an additional secretary in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, whose job it is only to deal with the problems faced by the party.
The Punjab government will appoint deputy district commissioners, district police officers and revenue officers in consultation with the PPP, sources said.
Sources said 12 districts including Multan, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Khanar Khan, Rawalpindi and Rajanpur have been targeted. According to sources, the PPP will advise on the appointment of district officials in these areas.
On the other hand, PPP has proposed to appoint PML-N elected district officials in Sindh region despite the fact that the ruling party has no representation there.
Also commenting on political polarization on various issues, Gilani said that all political parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are united on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
He also supported the government which recently announced ‘Operation Azm-e-Istehkam’ against terrorism and said that the war against terrorism is as urgent as ever.
The PPP leader said he supported military action in Swat and Malakand and had no choice.
