WIMBLEDON: Carlos Alcaraz recently won his second Wimbledon and fourth Grand Slam title after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets on Center Court.
The Spaniard won his first Wimbledon title in 2023, where he also beat Djokovic in five sets, but his battle with the Serb in 2024 was not too tough as Alcaraz managed to cruise to victory in just three sets.
Despite beating Djokovic in two Grand Slam finals, Alcaraz still believes the Serb is the greatest of all time (GOAT) because of his unmatched numbers.
In an ATP Tour Q&A interview that was released after Wimbledon, Alcaraz was asked which tennis player is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time).
“In terms of numbers, it’s Novak Djokovic without a doubt,” Alcaraz said. “The remaining two: Federer and Rafa. They are top for me.”
After the Wimbledon final, Alcaraz expressed a desire to “sit at the same table as the big boys”, but ruled out specifying a specific Grand Slam goal.
“I don’t know what my limit is. I don’t want to think about it,” said the world No. 3 at his post-tournament press conference.
“I just want to keep enjoying my moment, just dreaming. So we’ll see if it’s 25, 30, 15, four at the end of my career. I don’t know. All I want to say is that I want to keep enjoying myself and we’ll see what the future holds.
“I’m really happy with the work I’m doing with my team. I’m really proud of myself, all the things I’m doing are great. I’m really proud of the people around my team.
“Everything we’ve done so far has been incredible, an amazing journey so far. Like I said, I really want to keep going, keep improving, growing, trying to win. That’s all I care about now.
“It doesn’t matter if I’ve already won four Grand Slams at 21. I really want to continue.” I will try to keep winning and finish my career with a lot of them.”
