KARACHI: Convener of Awaam Pakistan and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi criticized the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and claimed that Pakistan is such a state where the very institution responsible for accountability needs accountability as it is corrupt.
Speaking to the media outside the court in Karachi, he shared his ordeal in the judicial system, his case was pending for four years and he appeared for the 30th hearing of the case without any development in the case.
He raised the question of responsibility, he said who will give him an answer about who filed a case against him and why he filed it, but everyone blamed others for the cases against me.
He stated that the cases were conducted for political reasons by NAB and alleged that NAB officers were earning billions.
Khaqan reiterated that NAB will be politicized against anyone and this institution will stop the running of state affairs.
Speaking on the issues of Independent Power Producers (IPPs), he said that investments and fuel for power plants were made in dollars and the government’s policy on IPPs was inconsistent.
