The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Gary Kirsten as the head coach of the Pakistan men’s white ball cricket team.
South African legend AB de Villiers expressed optimism over Kirsten’s appointment, hoping for a positive change in Pakistan cricket.
De Villiers hinted at a potential change in a statement on his YouTube channel, saying, “All I can say is, get ready to see Pakistan more beautiful. Get ready for some players to push themselves to the next level. They’re going to show themselves on the world stage and take the game to the next level.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming T20 World Cup, De Villiers predicted that Pakistan would emerge as a formidable force in white-ball cricket.
“Pakistan will emerge as a competitive team in white ball cricket. I hope they knock on the door in the knockout stages of the T20 World Cup.”
Reflecting on their previous partnership when Kirsten coached in South Africa and De Villiers led the team, de Villiers recalled Kirsten’s supportive approach. “I’m not better than you, I’m here to support you. In times of stress, in good times or in bad times,” he said.
