Mirpur—In a major crackdown, District Food Controller and Safety Officer Imtiaz Hussain Lal, accompanied by Divisional Food Analyst Muhammad Jaleel and support staff, sealed an unregistered factory operating in Mirpur. The factory was involved in the production of supari and chhalia (betel nut products), in blatant violation of the Food Act and public health safety standards.
During the inspection, authorities discovered substandard raw materials, processed items, and various unhygienic substances at the site. No legal documentation or registration certificate was presented by the factory owners, and officials confirmed the facility lacked any name or identification mark, effectively categorizing it as a “benami” (anonymous) entity.
District Food Officer Imtiaz Hussain Lal stated, “We are committed to ensuring the provision of safe and quality food to the public. Violations of the Food Act will not be tolerated. Stern action will continue against anonymous and unregistered production units.”
He further emphasized that routine inspections and raids will persist, urging the public to report any suspicious food production units to the Department of Food without delay.
