SHANGLA: Shangla Valley has been experiencing heavy rainfall and light snowfall in the hilly areas, causing disruptions in internet and electricity services. The cold weather has made life difficult for residents, especially those fasting during Ramadan.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had predicted heavy rainfall and snowfall in the area from Sunday to Tuesday. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had issued directives to all relevant authorities to take necessary precautions.
The rainfall and snowfall started on Sunday night and continued on Monday, with reports of light land sliding in different areas. The main roads, including the Karakoram Highway, have been affected, and travelers have been advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel until the roads are cleared.
The PDMA has directed all district administrations to take necessary measures to deal with the situation. The meteorological department has predicted that the rainfall and snowfall will continue intermittently until Tuesday.
The residents of Shangla have been advised to stay indoors and avoid traveling unless necessary. The authorities have also been directed to ensure the clearance of roads and to provide necessary assistance to the affected people.
