In connection with International Women’s Day, the Department of English at Government Graduate College (Pinwal) Chakwal organized a special program to honor those mothers who, despite widowhood and other challenges, dedicated their lives solely to the education and upbringing of their children. This program was specifically held for mothers whose children are currently enrolled in the BS English program at Pindwal College and are progressing toward academic success.
The program was hosted by the team of teachers, including Kaneez Fatima, Sehrish Zafar, Afifa Daud, and Qurat-ul-Ain Abbasi. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Meraj Fatima. BS English students Naila Noor, Kashmala Batool, Saadia Kulsoom, Wardah Jabeen, Aaila Akram, and M. Daud shared how their mothers played a crucial role in improving their lives in the absence of their fathers.
On this occasion, Ayesha Siddiqua, Maimoona Waseem, Meraj Bibi, and Munazza Maqbool presented special poems in honor of the guest mothers.
Following this, the mothers of the students spoke about the challenges of widowhood and separation, as well as the sacrifices they made for their children’s upbringing. They expressed their hope that their struggles would ultimately lead their children to a better future.
The chief guest, Professor Muhammad Latif, former principal of Government Postgraduate College Chakwal, acknowledged the extraordinary struggles of single mothers and presented them with appreciation cards on behalf of the department. Professor M. Ikram highlighted the emotional and familial difficulties faced by women on this challenging journey and emphasized the courage and resilience required to overcome such hardships.
At the conclusion of the event, Professor Shahid Azad, Head of the English Department, praised the hard work and sacrifices of single mothers. He stated that due to their dedication, their children are not only excelling academically in the department but have also shown improvement in their character, wisdom, and foresight.
