Islamabad: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited subsidized Ramadan Bazars and various stalls on the fourth day of Ramadan. During the visit, he, along with the DC ICT, ICTreviewed the availability of essential food items at reduced prices under the Ramadan Relief Package.
During the visit, the Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner were briefed that the prices of essential food items in Islamabad are lower as compared to other cities. In the federal capital, potatoes are being sold at Rs. 53 per kg, tomatoes at Rs. 49 per kg, bananas at Rs. 190 per dozen, oranges at Rs. 184 per dozen, and pomegranates at Rs. 454 per kg, which are available at lower prices compared to other cities in the country.
It was further apprised during the visit that the prices of several other vegetables and fruits in Islamabad are also lower or equal to those in Lahore and other cities.
The chairman of the CDA and the Chief Commissioner directed Assistant Commissioners and Price Control Magistrates to ensure the availability of essential food items at official prices in their respective areas.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized that relevant officers should ensure their presence in the markets and Ramadan bazaars to promptly address any complaints. He stated that providing affordable and quality essential food items is the top priority of the Islamabad district administration.
The chairman of the CDA and the Chief Commissioner also directed that the list of official prices be prominently displayed at all markets. He stated that strict action would be taken against those charging more than the official prices or engaging in profiteering.
On this occasion, the Chairman of CDA and Chief Commissioner appealed to the public to adhere to the official prices and immediately inform the relevant authorities in case of any complaints
