Dhadial () – In response to the call of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) against the controversial PECA Act, the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (Chakwal-Talagang Unit) organized a strong yet peaceful protest rally and hunger strike camp.
The rally started from Alliance Bus Stand and reached Tehsil Chowk, where it turned into a hunger strike camp. Journalists from across the district participated, raising slogans against the PECA law and demanding its immediate repeal by the government.
Later, various opposition leaders also joined the hunger strike camp at Tehsil Chowk to express solidarity with the journalists. The protest rally and hunger strike camp were led by Muhammad Riaz Anjum, President of RIUJ Chakwal-Talagang Unit. Other key figures included General Secretary Muhammad Ali Awan, Executive Body Chairman Toqeer Anwar, Executive Body Member Mirza Sajid, and members Azhar Kahout, Mohsin Ali Jafri, Sajid Baloch, and Ali Khan.
From Choa Saidan Shah, Senior Vice President Raja Burhan Ghani led a delegation including Muzammil Asghar, Tariq Mehmood, and Malik Abdul Qayyum Sethi. From Kallar Kahar, Joint Secretary Usman Awan led a team comprising Khalil Shakir, Israr Chilla, and Raja Qamar.
From Dhudial, Station Head Riaz Butt led a group including Dr. Zaheer Ahmed Khan Yousafy, Khurram Shehzad Awan, and Muhammad Naeem. From Talagang and Lawa, Vice President Nazar Chaudhry led a delegation with Syed Irshad Hussain Shah Kazmi, Sadaqat Malik, Ilyas Shah, and Hafiz Muhammad Imtiaz.
Other journalists present included Chaudhry Imran Qaiser Abbas, Nasir Arain, and Saleem Rahmani. Additionally, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Vice Amir Muhammad Ashraf Asif Jalali, along with other leaders, also arrived at the hunger strike camp to show solidarity with the journalist community.
