The initiative was officially inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Mayor Abbottabad, Chief Executive Officer WASA Abbottabad, Tehsil Municipal Officer Abbottabad, and Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad.
The ceremony saw the active participation of WASA Abbottabad and the Tehsil Municipal Administration staff. During this campaign, WASA Abbottabad will focus on cleaning roads and streets, unclogging drains, and collecting garbage from empty plots. Additionally, garbage bins will be cleaned and repainted, while areas from Murree Road and Gami Adda to Fawara Chowk will be thoroughly cleaned. The campaign also includes trimming roadside and cemetery grass, removing construction debris, and eliminating wall chalking and illegal panaflex banners from streetlights and electricity poles.
A dedicated team of 180 field staff and eight supervisors will oversee the daily cleaning activities across 11 Neighborhood Councils under WASA’s jurisdiction. The operation will utilize 23 small and large vehicles to ensure the proper disposal of garbage and debris. The campaign will be personally supervised by Chief Executive Officer Engineer Rehan Yusuf.
Addressing the launch ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Captain (Retd) Sanaullah Khan commended the sanitation workers for their efforts and urged them to fully commit to the campaign’s success. Mayor Abbottabad Sardar Shuja Nabi also appealed to the citizens to cooperate and support the initiative to maintain a cleaner and healthier city.
