MARDAN: Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmed has said that we have to plant more and more trees to protect ourselves from the negative effects of changing climate conditions. He said that more than one lakh saplings will be planted in Mardan division during the current spring plantation drive. He was speaking after planting saplings under the tree plantation drive at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan here today. Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Zahir Shah, Dean of Bacha Khan Medical College Dr. Amjad, Director of Administration Prof. Farhad Safi and faculty and staff members of the University were also present on this occasion. Commissioner Mardan Nisar Ahmed said that various countries of the world are being badly affected by climate change, including Pakistan, so academia and civil society have to play their role to raise public awareness in this regard. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University said that Abdul Wali Khan University will fully participate in the plantation campaign and the University will achieve the target of planting more than ten thousand saplings in various campuses with the support of its students and staff. Earlier, Commissioner Mardan Division and other participants inaugurated the plantation campaign by planting saplings in the university lawns.
