Rawalpindi – The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI) has emphasized the need to strengthen industry-academia linkages to effectively utilize academic and research activities for resolving industrial challenges and driving industrial growth.
This was highlighted by RCCI President Usman Shaukat during a meeting with Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women’s University (FJWU), Dr. Bushra Mirza. He stressed that economic growth is directly linked to the promotion of a knowledge-based economy, and all relevant institutions must work collectively to help Pakistan enter the Fourth Industrial Revolution with dignity and pride. The meeting was also attended by former RCCI President Dr. Shimail Daud, Secretary General Irfan Manan Khan, and faculty members.
During the discussions, Usman Shaukat outlined key initiatives to foster stronger academia-industry partnerships, including: Formation of Corporate Advisory Boards with Chamber representation, Internship & Training Programs to equip students with industry-relevant skills, Faculty Fellowships to bridge academia and industry, Joint Research Initiatives for innovation and industrial solutions and Development of New Academic Programs & funding collaborations.
Dr. Bushra Mirza assured full support and assistance in promoting these initiatives.
