South Waziristan’s Trailblazer Recognized for Journalism and Women Empowerment
Metrix Pakistan has proudly honored Razia Mehsood with the Journalist Award 2025, acknowledging her groundbreaking contributions to journalism, women empowerment, and digital literacy in Pakistan.
As the first female journalist from South Waziristan, Razia Mehsood has shattered barriers in the tribal district, using her platform to amplify marginalized voices and advocate for critical social issues. She currently serves as the Chairperson of the Razia Mehsood Development Foundation (RMDF) and the District Committee on the Status of Women (DCSW) South Waziristan, leading initiatives that uplift women and communities.
Beyond journalism, she is a digital literacy advocate and entrepreneur. She has established an IT Center to promote digital skills and empowerment projects, ensuring access to technology in underprivileged areas. Additionally, as the Founder of RM Brand and RM Organic Bazaar, she is preserving traditional crafts and promoting organic products from Waziristan on national and international platforms.
Through her unwavering commitment to women’s rights, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, Razia Mehsood continues to transform lives across Waziristan and beyond.
