In India, two women, fed up with their abusive husbands, left their homes and married each other.
According to Indian media, the incident occurred in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, where Kavita and Ganja alias Bablu tied the knot in a Shiva temple. The two connected on Instagram, quickly became friends, and stayed in touch for six years before deciding to marry.
Both women revealed that they had suffered abuse at the hands of their husbands.
One woman shared that her husband was an alcoholic who abused her daily. She has four children and, after enduring multiple instances of violence, decided to return to her parents’ home.
The other woman claimed that her husband was also a heavy drinker who falsely accused her of infidelity, leading her to leave him.
According to the news agency, one of the women stated, “We were distressed by our husbands’ drinking and abusive behavior. This forced us to choose a life of peace and love. We have decided to live as a couple in Gorakhpur.”
