ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the £190 million fraud was an open and shut case. Talking to the media on Wednesday, he said PTI founder Imran Khan failed to prove his innocence in the case. “It was a mega corruption scam and a sealed document was presented in the cabinet meeting,” Tarar said. The Information Minister said that it is very strange that PTI founder as well as his wife are using religion to hide corruption. He added that crores of rupees were minted by the husband and wife in this case. “The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is an institution governed by law and the constitution. NAB has intervened in this case after a thorough investigation,” the information minister said. The minister had earlier said that the decision against the PTI founder and his wife was based on merit after the prosecution presented concrete evidence. He alleged that the PTI founder and his wife embezzled Rs 80 billion which was used to build a house in Lahore. He added that not a single PTI person could explain the source of PTI founder’s income. According to him, money that belonged to the government and people of Pakistan was transferred to the bank account of the Supreme Court to facilitate the business tycoon.
