ISLAMABAD: The opposition led by PTI protested during the National Assembly session on Wednesday. The protest started when NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq did not give the floor to Opposition Leader Omar Ayub during question hour. At the beginning of the meeting, Omar Ayub asked for a point of order, but the Speaker did not give the floor to the Leader of the Opposition. “It has been decided in the trade advisory committee that no procedural objections will be raised during question hour,” the spokesman said. The opposition started loudly protesting and also tearing copies of the agenda items. Later, the speaker expressed displeasure at the absence of Home Office officials from the gallery during question time. It is worth noting here that a joint session of Parliament is likely to be held on Friday, January 24, where important laws will be passed. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif advised President Asif Ali Zardari to convene a joint session on January 24. Parliamentary sources said the proposed laws would be passed in a joint session as they were not approved by both chambers. The government also ordered members of the National Assembly and Senate to remain in Islamabad. He further directed all the members to ensure their presence in the house during the joint session.
