As per an FIA advisory, strict monitoring directives have been issued for passengers from nine cities in Pakistan and two foreign airlines.
The cities under surveillance include Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, and Bhimber.
The circular emphasizes enhancing the profiling system for passengers traveling to 16 countries, especially first-time travelers aged between 15 and 40. Special profiling has also been instructed for passengers traveling to Libya, Iran, Mauritania, Iraq, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, and Kyrgyzstan.
The advisory calls for thorough verification of all passenger documents, including return tickets and hotel bookings. It stresses the careful inspection of documents for those traveling on visit or tourist visas.
Suspicious passengers will undergo stringent interviews to determine their travel purpose and financial arrangements. Immigration officers have been directed to maintain detailed records of cases and report any suspicious activity immediately.
This comes in the wake of a tragic incident earlier this month, where a boat carrying migrants illegally to Spain via West Africa met with an accident, resulting in the deaths of 50 individuals, including 44 Pakistanis.
Survivors of the incident later revealed that smugglers were responsible for a massacre on the boat. Twenty-one Pakistani survivors managed to save their lives by paying ransoms.
