Islamabad: The annual elections of the Pothohar Young Journalists Association have concluded, with the Professional Panel and the Rising Journalists Panel claiming victory. Aram Saeed was elected as President, while Raja Mudassir became the General Secretary. Saniya Awan Malik won the position of Vice President, Umar Farooq was elected as Information Secretary, and Usman Abrar secured the role of Finance Secretary.
The annual elections of the Pothohar Young Journalists Association were held at the Rawalpindi Press Club. Polling lasted from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, while online voting continued until 2:00 PM. In the 2025 elections, both the Professional Panel and the Rising Journalists Panel achieved success. Aram Saeed, from the Rising Journalists Panel, defeated Raja Rafiqat Hussain of the Professional Panel for the position of President. Both candidates received an equal number of votes, leading to a decision by drawing lots, which favored Aram Saeed, securing her victory.
Saniya Awan Malik of the Professional Panel won the Vice President position by defeating Sardar Aftab Iqbal of the Rising Journalists Panel by 25 votes. Raja Mudassir, the candidate for General Secretary, defeated Raja Zia of the Rising Journalists Panel by eight votes. Usman Abrar, the Professional Panel’s candidate for Finance Secretary, secured 42 votes, while Hamza Shoaib of the Rising Journalists Panel received 29 votes. For the position of Information Secretary, Umar Farooq and his opponent Hafiz Muhammad Kamran both received 39 votes, leading to a decision by drawing lots.
The voting process began at 10:00 AM and continued uninterrupted until 3:00 PM. The Election Commission formally announced the results. Babar Aurangzeb Chaudhry signed the results on behalf of the Pothohar Young Journalists Association. The Chief Election Commission members included Samiullah Advocate, Malik Sharjeel Liaquat Advocate, and Malik Qaiser Awan. They also signed the written results.
The winning candidates will take their oaths for their respective positions in the coming days.
