ISLAMABAD: The schedule of meetings between the ruling and opposition committees was revised on Wednesday.
The National Assembly meeting, originally scheduled for Thursday at 11:30 am, will now take place at 3:30 pm, according to the spokesperson.
The spokesperson further clarified that the change in timing was based on the requests of the committee members.
NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq will chair the session.
It may be recalled that PTI leader Asad Qaiser on Tuesday revealed two demands to be presented in a meeting with the government’s negotiating committee on 2
Speaking to the media outside the Peshawar High Court (PHC), he said PTI would demand the release of all party prisoners, including Imran Khan, and a judicial inquiry into the May 9 and November 26 incidents.
The negotiating committees of the government and the main opposition PTI are scheduled to meet again on January 2 and will be chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. In an earlier meeting, the government had asked the PTI to present its demand for the continuation of the political dialogue.
“The 26th Amendment has paralyzed the judicial system,” Qaiser said, urging lawyers to play their proper role.
He said that PTI founder Imran Khan told him that he would hold talks when his party workers were treated better.
