KHYBER: The annual election of district press club, Landi Kotal for the year 2025 was held here on Sunday under the supervision of the head of District Bar Association as per notification of Directorate of Information and Public Relation.
Aman Ali Shinwari was elected as President and Hijrat Ali Afridi was chosen General Secretary of the press club.
Out of 14 members, 13 voters utilized their right of vote and Aman Ali Shinwari got 11 votes while his opponent Abdul Azam Shinwari received 02 votes.
In the same way Hijrat Ali Afridi got 10 votes whereas Jibran Khan bagged 03 votes.
People from different walks of life including President Khyber Bar Association Farhad Advocate visited the press club and examined the electing process of the media persons of district press club.
Earlier, the election started at 09:00 am and continued without interruption till 02:00 pm.
The election committee comprised Ahmad Nabi, Rahat Shinwari and Mian Sajid.
The newly elected cabinet members highlighted the role of journalists being played in the society and pledged to continue their struggle for the wellbeing of the journalist community as well as for the locals.
