Did you know that when you add charcoal or charcoal dust to the soil, it increases soil fertility, helps retain water, and also acts as a carbon sink?
Have you also noticed that when you grow crops in a place where wood or garbage has been burned, the crops there are better than in other places? This is because the ash and charcoal dust present in that place act as a natural fertilizer.
Biochar also inhibits the activities of termites and ants in the soil. It is an organic fertilizer, which can be easily adopted by gardeners and farmers who grow crops in bags.
I grew these tomato plants using biochar and did not use any other fertilizer until the harvest.
