PESHAWAR: As the monitoring and enforcement drive of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) continues across the province, a team from KPRA Mardan and Malakand Region sealed a wedding hall in Hakimabad area of Nowshera.
On the directives of Director General KPRA, Fauzia Iqbal, and Collector Sales Tax on Services, Maqsood Hassan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) is carrying out its province-wide monitoring and enforcement campaign. Teams of KPRA are visiting wedding halls and restaurants across the province to improve tax compliance at the onset of winter and wedding season in the region.
As part of the drive, the KPRA Mardan and Malakand Region team sealed a noted wedding hall in Hakimabad, Nowshera, for non-payment of Sales Tax on Services. The operation was led by Assistant Collector Kamal Zada, Inspector Abdul Waheed, Inspector Shehzad Ali Khan, and Audit Officer Diyar Khan.
Additional Collector for Mardan and Malakand Region, Baseer Ali Rehman, emphasized that tax evasion and non-compliance will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He warned that strict action will be taken against all individuals and entities involved in tax evasion, in accordance with KPRA laws, rules and regulations. Rehman also urged businesses in the services sector to ensure timely payment of taxes to avoid legal consequences.
The wedding hall administration had been issued notices under KPRA rules and regulations, and multiple visits were conducted by the KPRA inspectors. However, the administration failed to cooperate, leading to the enforcement action in line with the law.
