In Lahore’s open market, the price of sugar has dropped by 32 rupees, going from 157 to 125 rupees per kilo.
Chairman of the Wholesale Grocers Association, Rauf Ibrahim, stated that the prices of lentils have also decreased by 25 to 75 rupees, with further price reductions expected.
He mentioned that the price of chickpeas has dropped by 40 rupees to 360 rupees per kilo, while the price of mung beans has decreased by 75 rupees to 425 rupees. First-grade Kabuli chickpeas are now 45 rupees cheaper at 355 rupees per kilo, and small Kabuli chickpeas have fallen by 25 rupees to 295 rupees per kilo.
He also noted that since September, the price of black chickpeas has decreased by 50 rupees per kilo.
On the other hand, the price of a 20-kilo bag of flour has increased by 60 rupees, now costing 1685 rupees instead of 1625 rupees.
Flour dealers and bakery owners are demanding a reduction in the price of flour.
