SWAT: Under the auspices of Awami Welfare Society, a one-day workshop on ensuring women’s inheritance and inclusion in the police department was organizerd in Mingora city of Swat district.
The workshop was attended by public representatives, representatives of human rights organizations, academicians and women police officers and informed the participants about their views.
The chief guest of the workshop, District Development Advisory Council (DDAC) Chairman Akhtar Khan Advocate (MPA) said that Awami Welfare Society is trying to bring awareness among the people and especially its efforts regarding women’s rights are commendable.
He said that women should actively participate in all spheres of life so that they too can play their part by becoming effective and useful citizens of the society.
He further said that the biggest problem we have is neglecting women in family inheritance which is sad.
“Although Islam has clearly outlined the right of inheritance for women.
According to which women are required to share in the property,” he said.
He said that in this way women should ensure their involvement in all spheres of life and the provincial government is also taking serious steps in this regard.
On this occasion, Saeed Naeem Khan (DPP Swat), Syed Mohiuddin (Chairman Awami Welfare Society Swat), Dr. Yasmin Gul (Executive Director Awami Welfare Society Swat), Samreen Hakeem Advocate working on women’s rights, Ali Rehman (ADEO) (Education Department), PakWen Chairperson Himashakar and SHO Woman Police Station Swat Neelam also spoke.
The speakers presented their suggestions regarding women’s share in the inherited property and expressed their views regarding women’s education.
The speakers emphasized that the society can be improved only by attracting women towards education and giving them their real share.
