What happened at D square Islamabad during the last two days, should not be happen in democratic governments because the way the protest was handled remained designed to make the protest violent and full of thrillers from both sides. If someone thought by doing this, the attention of the silent public will be diverted from their basic problems, so they are living in a fool’s paradise.
Considering the economic and political situation in the country the people understand very well who is pulling the strings, but they are working patiently and giving respite to the rulers and opposition leaders that maybe These politicians should straighten up and pay attention to the real politics of the people instead of taking turns but these silent masses are facing disappointment every time. So if the real protesters should come out then no such politicians will face it, but before that time comes the rulers and the opposition parties should come together and find a way out of the D-square drama so that at least the lame democracy can be maintained in the country.
The kind of display shown by an elected Chief Minister during the last two days should not have happened because as the Chief Executive there is no need to lead such a violent protest. Actually he showed a lot of irresponsibility and plotted the rally even though this work should be done by his political wing.
Along with that there is another irresponsible statement comes for the Governor Kpk, that the governor rule can be imposed in the province. He belongs to a party which claims to be working for real democracy in the country and hundreds of leaders and workers including its founding chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Chairperson Benazir Bhutto have sacrificed for democracy.
Thus if Governor’s rule can be imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, then emergency rule can be imposed in Islamabad as well, which is not a solution to the problems, instead he could talk to the federation for the betterment of the province. Then issuing such cheap statements is not in the interest of the country and the nation, which even harms democracy.
Apart from this another irresponsible statement has been given by the senior politician Mehmood Khan Achakzai in which he has said that the scope of opposition protest can be extended to Balochistan.
He said that earlier he warned the rulers that the founder of PTI should be released on bail, but was not listened to. The head of the Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen (constitution) Mahmood Khan Achakzai has said that he will expand the peaceful protest to Balochistan now. Mehmood Achakzai announced to expand the scope of the protest and said that the protest will be extended to Balochistan and a peaceful protest will be held in Qila Saifullah on October 7. Hence there is need for Mehmood Achakzai to be aware of the situation, when the country’s economy is on the verge of collapse, spreading more political anarchy is not the solution to the problems. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are already in the grip of terrorism and insecurity, spreading more political anarchy in them will further increase the deprivations of these two provinces.
If seen the federal government also seems to be unable to control this whole situation, or does it want the political drama to continue in the country and under the guise of it, it continues to ignore the basic problems of the people?
The ruling parties must think that the number of active workers of political parties is much less than their silent supporters or workers who are monitoring the government and the opposition besides the lava is brewing inside them.
In this context, the requirement of wisdom is that the government and the opposition sit together and agree to settle a civil agreement, which is prohibited for any parties or administrative bodies to go ahead. If this is not done, then the balance of power will remain as before and these democratic rulers will continue to stand on crutches in the same way.
Consequently for the better future of the country, it is necessary that instead of resorting to crutches, political parties should start a series of back-door communications to strengthen real democracy and draw attention to basic public issues.
