SWAT: A murder accused on Monday escaped from police custody in Gulkada’s District Court premises owing to negligence of the police personnel, according to police officials. Accused Hazrat Wali, a resident of Shingrai area was arrested on murder charges by police of the Manglawar Police Station in 2023, they added.
Police claimed that the accused open his handcuff and run away.
Three policemen were also present with the accused when he fled from the court’s premises, police confirmed.
Following the incident, Sub Inspector (SI) Bakht Rahman, Sub Inspector (SI) Nisar Ahmed and constable Bacha Zeb were suspended and taken into custody.
The suspect was brought from the District Jail Saidu Sharif, Swat to the District courts, Gulkada, for a hearing.
After the escape of the accused, police teams have been formed to re-arrest him, but so far he has not been re-arrested.
District Police Officer Swat Badshah Hazrat Khan took strict notice of the incident and issued orders to register a case against Sub Inspector Bakht Rehman, Sub Inspector Nisar Ahmed and constable Bacha Zeb for their negligence.
The Saidu Sharif police have registered a case against him under Sections 223-224 PPC, while the absconding accused Hazrat Wali has also been named in the FIR.
