Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Industries,Commerce and Technical Education, Abdul Karim Tordher has said that Chitral had a tremendous potential of economic development which lead to smashing the yoke of poverty and indigence if properly exploited and the event like ‘Chitral Expo’ will act as catalyst in this regard.
Inaugurating the two-day ‘Chitral Expo’ jointly held by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP BOIT) and Chitral Chamber of Commerce, he said that the basic agenda of the present government is to promote the local natural resources of an area so as to provide employment opportunities to maximum people for which investors were being encouraged to investment in different ventures.

He said that efforts are being made in Chitral to bring more and more investments through public private partnership and other channels and very soon investors from outside will turn to Chitral from everywhere and there will be an end to backwardness and poverty and this was the vision of the founding PTI.
“We believe that we have to live and die here in Pakistan and cannot even think of leaving the country and that is why we are making viable and sustainable economic policies that will help the people more. More benefits can be obtained and recently the Chief Minister has announced several schemes for the welfare of the people in which businesses can be started through easy loans”, he said.
He appreciated the efforts of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade along with Chitral Chamber of Commerce for organizing the Expo for the first time in the history of Chitral.
Earlier, the Director General of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Muhammad Naseer said that when his organization decided to organize a trade expo for trade branches at the international and regional levels, then Chitral was chosen as the first destination due to its immense reources.
He hoped that as the result of the expo, Chitrail products will be introduced at national and international level along with networking and training facilities facilities.
On this occasion Liaquat Ali, Vice President of Chitral Chamber of Commerce mentioned the problems faced in the way of trade in Chitral.
TDAP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Director Nauman Bashir thanked various institutions for the successful organization of Chitral Expo.
More than 90 stalls had been established in the expo which showcased a variety of items ranging from local food to clothing, decoration pieces, cultural items including that of Kalash culture items in which visitors evinced great interest.
