ISLAMABAD: Officials of the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment have advised foreign job seekers to approach only valid overseas job promoters to avoid wasting time, money and their energy.
Speaking to APP on Friday, they said there are only 2,577 OEP (Overseas Employment Promoters) licenses that are valid as more than 5,048 licenses have been declared invalid.
Of the invalid OEPs, about 670 licenses were canceled for various reasons, while 805 expired and the rest surrendered.
They said that all foreign job seekers must visit the official BEOE website regularly to get fresh and valid information and protect themselves from unauthorized OEPs.
Officials said the BEOE was mandated to regulate emigration under the Emigration Ordinance 1979, promote the emigration of Pakistani citizens and look after the interests and welfare of emigrants. Among other functions, BEOE advised the federal government on emigration policies and procedures, monitoring and supervising overseas employment promoters through the 7 Protectorate Emigrant Offices, processing Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP) licenses and providing pre-departure briefings to emigrants.
