Pakistan is a country blessed with an abundance of resources, including coal, gas, salt, cotton, and more. These resources are the building blocks of Pakistan’s economy and GDP. While having a wealth of resources is important, it’s equally important to manage them effectively. The quantity of resources is not as crucial as how we utilize and manage them.
Pakistan exports various products, such as sports equipment from Sialkot, wheat, rice, cotton, and other agricultural products from Sindh, dates from Khairpur, and numerous other items from different regions. According to a recent report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan’s economy contracted in FY23, following two consecutive years of remarkable growth. The real gross domestic product (GDP) declined by 0.6 percent in FY23, after growing by 6.1 percent in FY22 and 5.8 percent in FY21.
Despite periodic growth, we also experience declines due to inadequate management of our exports. This is the primary reason we fail to reap the expected benefits from our resources.
The government must scrutinize exporting companies, and all stakeholders, from laborers to ministers, must work with honesty, dignity, passion, and dedication.
