LONDON: Moeen Ali has expressed his disappointment over Naseem Shah’s unavailability for The Hundred tournament.
Unfortunately, his absence had an impact on the team’s balance sheet. Moeen stressed that players should be allowed to play cricket if they have no other commitments.
When asked about his potential participation in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year, Moeen said it was too early to predict.
He noted that the Champions Trophy, being a 50-over format, may see the selection of younger players, but if selected, he will be ready.
Moeen also shared a personal note about his son Abu Bakr, who is an avid 10-year-old cricketer. Abu Bakr, a left-handed wicketkeeper and batsman, aspires to play for England one day.
It is worth noting that Naseem Shah did not get a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the PCB for The Hundred League.
Despite being under contract with Birmingham Phoenix and requesting a NOC, the PCB rejected it due to workload management concerns.
Naseem was in the most expensive category for The Hundred, with a contract worth £125,000.
