ISLAMABAD: The routine life of the citizens was disrupted as they faced trouble due to the Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) meeting being held in Faizabad – the confluence of the federal capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Faizabad is considered the main gateway to the capital city of Islamabad. In the past, many parties have blocked the Faizabad road apart from staging sit-ins.
Demonstrators marched from Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh to Faizabad to express “solidarity” with the Palestinians, after which a meeting was announced.
According to reports, the Islamabad administration has started talks with a three-member team of protesters. The demands of the protesters are not clear.
It is worth noting that at least 16 Palestinians were killed in overnight attacks in Gaza City. It follows an Israeli attack on al-Mawasi in southern Gaza that killed at least 90 Palestinians.
People there described it as a horrific massacre, with many still missing under the rubble. Thousands of displaced people sought shelter in al-Mawasi as Israeli forces designated the area a so-called safe zone. Al Jazeera’s Tareq abu Azzoum has the latest from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
