A delegation of FAPUASA Pakistan led by the central President: Dr Amjad Abbas Magsi, including General Secretary: Dr. Muhammad Uzair, Vice President: Dr Mazhar Iqbal, President Balochistan Chapter: Dr Kaleem Ullah Bareach, President Islamabad Chapter: Dr Muhammd Iqbal Jatoi, Central Information Secretary: Dr Ahtisham Ali and Dr Aqeel Bukhari.
The delegation apprised the senior leadership of Pakistan People Party, Syed Qasim Gelani(MNA), Aagha Rafi Ullah(MNA), ,Puhlain Baloch (MNA National Party Balochistan) and Akhunzada Chatan and enlighten them about the sorry state of affairs in the higher education sector of Pakistan. The FAPUASA delegation demanded the enhancement of budget for higher education up to 500 billion. The delegation further demanded the resumption of 75% tax exemption, which was previously available for university teachers and researchers. The delegation expressed the serious consequences of low funding for the higher education sector, which will directly affect the affordability and accessibility of the poor segment of society toward higher education. The FAPUASA delegation appreciated the support of financial allocation for the higher education sector, particularly by the Sindh government. The FAPUASA delegation also called on senator Jan Muhammad Buledi of National Party, Senator Masroor Ahsan of Pakistan People Party, Senator Haji Hidayat Ullah of Awami National Party and Senator Saif Ullah Abro of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Senator Khalida Ateeb of MQM.
The parliamentary delegation endorses the demand of the FAPUASA delegation, and they assured them to address these issues in the Parliament and at the government level. The meeting ended with the vote of thanks by the FAPUASA delegation to the parliamentarians for their support for the higher education sector in Pakistan.
