Since the US, withdrawal Taliban have been go back on the promises they made before the withdrawal that they would maintain better relations with neighboring countries and protect their territory from organizations like TTP, Al-Qaeda and (ISIS)Daesh. Taliban also assured that they will not allow their hands to be used against the neighboring countries but now that they have taken over the power Taliban forget all their undertakings to help the region in anti-terrorist activities. They are not taking any steps to prevent these terrorist organizations from carrying out set-ups against Pakistan.
They are neither doing nor ready to cooperate with Pakistan due to which the environment in the region is deteriorating. So the violation of Pakistani border has become a daily routine. Therefore it is necessary that the Taliban should not only help Pakistan in the operations against the violations of the border but also take action against these organizations inside Afghanistan so that peace can be restored in the region.
If the Taliban government starts operations against these terrorist organizations, then surely the powerful countries of the region like Russia and China may also be ready to support them. There is a need for the Taliban leadership to show seriousness and support the neighboring countries. If the traditional inflexibility on the part of the Taliban continues, neither the problem of the return of Afghan refugees will be solved nor will peace be established.
The problem of repatriation of Afghan refugees is becoming serious day by day due to which not only these Afghans are facing problems but it also poses threats to the peace of the region. Although the majority of Afghan refugees seek refuge in Iran and Pakistan, these two countries are among the top five refugee-hosting countries in the world, where these Afghan refugees are living in ruthless conditions.
This situation indicates the ongoing struggle in Afghanistan after the return of the Afghan Taliban to power and the increasing burden on the countries hosting the refugees. The majority of whom are developing countries like Pakistan. Most of the responsibility for the mass migration of Afghans lies mainly with the US and other Western countries because they are responsible for the invasion of Afghanistan or the situation that followed.
When it comes to the situations arising due to displacement, these responsible western countries shy away from fulfilling their responsibilities in dealing with them. Due to which the future return of many Afghan refugees living in countries like Iran and Pakistan has become doubtful. Because almost half of the population of Afghanistan is currently suffering from food insecurity and millions are still homeless within the country who do not have access to food but the Taliban continues to surround Afghans and exploit them. If seen, apart from the countries responsible for the defeat of the Taliban in Afghanistan, all the neighboring countries also need to work for it to get out of this disaster.
On the other hand the insecure internal economic situation of Afghanistan and the presence of terrorist organizations apparently within the borders of Afghanistan have also become a threat to the neighboring countries in the region, then better relations with the neighbors will help to create a more stable environment in the Afghanistan. It can serve as a platform through which other issues such as the economy and internal displacement can be addressed. The concerns and frustrations of large refugee-hosting countries like Pakistan are understandable but it is important to emphasize that forced deportation of refugees without a stable situation in Afghanistan is not the way to solve any problem. In fact, the first step in this matter has to be taken by the Afghan Taliban, in which Pakistan’s help is crucial in dealing with the threat of terrorism posed by the TTP.
