LEIPZIG: Cristiano Ronaldo will begin his Euro 2024 tour on Tuesday when Portugal take on the Czech Republic in the opening match of the tournament at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany.
Ronaldo, 39, will make his sixth Euro as he played in every edition from 2004 to 2020, winning the tournament in 2016 and reaching the final in 2004.
If Ronaldo can find the back of the net against the Czech Republic, he will become the first player aged 39 or over to score the most goals in the tournament’s history.
As soon as he steps onto the pitch tonight, he will write his name in the history books by becoming the first player to appear in six editions of the Euros.
With 14 goals in the competition’s history, Ronaldo is already the top scorer in Euro history and the 39-year-old will be looking to extend that tally with one more tonight.
Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva will receive the playmaking services. The five-time Champions League winner has been in fine form this season, scoring 44 goals in 45 games for Al-Nassr, so he will be keen to score tonight.
