In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Namibia won the Super Bowl at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Chasing 110 against Oman, Namibia won 109-6 in 20 overs.
Namibia needed two runs off the last ball but David Wiese failed to get the ball. However, the keeper was unable to clear the ball as Wiese and Malan Kruger raced in and finished their run.
Fan Frylink was the team’s top scorer with 45 goals in 48 balls thanks to six goals.
However, Mehran Khan, who bowled the last over of the innings, registered impressive figures of 3-7 in four overs for Oman.
In the Super Tournament, Namibia batted first and scored 21 with the help of Wiese’s 13 in four balls.
However, Wiese took responsibility to stay on top and conceded only 10 goals.
Previously, Namibia won the tournament and decided to play against Oman first. Batting first, Oman were out for just 109 in 19.4 overs.
Left-arm pacer Ruben Trumpelmann gave a good start with back-to-back wickets in the first two balls of the match, while opener Kashyap Prajapati and skipper Aqib Ilyas were dismissed without troubling the wicketkeeper.
After a disastrous start, Oman failed to recover and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.
Trumpelmann was the pick of the bowlers for Namibia with figures of 4-21 in four overs.
Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus also collected figures of 2-20 in four overs. David Wiese also scored three goals.
Khalid Kail was Oman’s top scorer with 34 off 39 balls which included a four and a six.
It is the first meeting between the two teams in Group B of the T20 World Cup 2024, which also features arch-rivals Australia and England as well as Scotland.
