With the threat of terror, the New York government has increased security for the Pakistan-India T20I World Cup 2024 match on June 9.
According to reports, terrorist outfits will attack the World Cup in New York. Pakistan will play two matches while India will play four matches in the metropolis.
On the other hand, New York Gov. Cathy Hochul said she has been working with law enforcement for months to ensure the safety of New Yorkers and visitors to the Cricket World Cup.
He dismissed reports of an imminent threat, saying “there is no credible threat to public safety at this time.” However, they said they are constantly monitoring the situation.
Public safety is our top priority and we are committed to ensuring the Cricket World Cup is a safe and enjoyable experience .
Although no corroborating evidence has yet been found for the reported threat, the International Cricket Council has stated that safety and security are of the utmost importance.
India and Pakistan will lock horns in New York on June 9 in the tournament that started on June 1.
India have won six times in seven attempts against Pakistan in the 2007 final and most recently in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Melbourne.
The T20 World Cup will be held at three venues in the USA and six venues in the West Indies between June 1 and June 29.
The tournament will begin with neighbors Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, USA. At that stage, the qualifiers will be divided into four more groups and the top two teams will advance to the semi-finals, after which the winner will play in the final on June 29.
England became the defending champions after defeating Pakistan in the 2022 final.
